The Mumbai-based driver held on the lead at the start of the race with Krishnaraaj Mahadik closing in but not enough to overtake in the first few corners.
Mahadik was on the tail of Chatterjee in the first few laps but with the Kolhapur-based driver struggling with tyres wasn't able to attact with Chatterjee extending a healthy at the front.
In the end, it was enough for Chatterjee to take a lights-to-flag win from a fighting Kush Maini and Ricky Donison.
Mahadik had originally finished second but a penalty for jump start meant the Chris Dittmann Racing driver dropped to fourth.
Maini and Donison joined by Dhruv Mohite scrapped for podium place with the 2015 karting champion trying to take back third spot but Maini driver had enough to keep the place.
With Mahadik's penalty, both eventually finished on the podium at second and third respectively.
Mohite finished fifth but a similar penalty like Mahadik meant he was classified eighth behind Anindith Reddy, Akhil Rabindra and Ananth Shanmugam.
Both Reddy and Rabindra had a race long fight for sixth place, the latter losing the place to the Hyderabad-based driver midway, was unable to pass after great wheel to wheel action.
At the back Mohammad Nalwalla at ninth was able to keep Akash Gowda behind, in a battle of their own.
