Anindith Reddy finished second and Nayan Chatterjee was third. Vikash Anand and Ricky Capo finished fourth and fifth respectively.
With the sun really beating down at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, it made for a good day of racing in this second round of the JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship.
All through the race, pole position man Prasad had to defend against a rampaging Reddy, who started from third place.
Ippolito was second on the starting grid, with Chatterjee third and Reddy starting the race in fourth place.
Prasad had a smooth takeoff and took an easy lead, while Reddy was already challenging Chatterjee. Ippolito moved back soon after the start.
Prasad stuck to the job and made up a good lead between himself and the rest of the pack. It was Prasad leading Chatterjee and Reddy.
By the fourth lap, Reddy had begun to challenge Chatterjee but the latter defended well for some time.
But Reddy was not the one to stay back and take it easy. On the fifth lap, Reddy overtook Chatterjee to move up to the second place.
Reddy began to increase the gap between himself and Chatterjee, but was also gunning for Prasad.
The Hyderabad racer tried to get past Prasad in the slipstream at the end of the ninth lap, but Prasad defended well.
At the back, however, there was not much action happening.
Three laps later, Reddy almost had Prasad at the first corner but could not make the move stick.
On the last lap, Prasad and Reddy traded places a couple of times. But Reddy went slightly off the racing line and that gave Prasad a little lee way to win the race.
