In the third round at Coimbatore, championship leader Karthik Tharani got a crucial win in race two which helped him keep a one-point lead over rival Gotham Parekh.

After a little break, the drivers gear up for the penultimate round of the championship in Chennai with the title fight heating up between Tharani and Parekh.

Having already notched up three wins this season, Tharani felt confident heading into the weekend. "I had the perfect weekend in Chennai last time out and so I am hoping that I can repeat it this time," he said.

"I am quite sure that Parekh and Arjun Narendran will be strong this weekend and so I am looking forward to the challenge."

His rival Parekh was happy to have closed the gap to Tharani in Coimbatore and was looking ahead to race in Chennai but was cautious in his fight with Tharani.

"This weekend will be tougher, I will work closely with Peter Allnut (engineer) to make sure we fight with Tharani," he said.

J Anand, Managing Director of JA Motorsport added, "The championship is shaping up really well and looks like, it will go down to the wire in the final round."

Anand praised the work of chief engineer Allnut who has been working with the young drivers to bring out the maximum which is an important part of developing as a driver.

The first practice session is on Friday while the second practice session and qualifying will take place on Saturday and race one and race two will happen on Sunday.
