The championship is going down to the wire with three drivers still in the play to clinch the title.

Goutham Parekh had a great fourth round which put him in the lead of the championship with 162 and pushed the previous leader Karthik Tharani to second, 12 points away from Parekh.

In third, Arjun Narendran will again dual his role competing in the Indian Touring Cars, where he has already taken the title.

Narendran is 22 points away from Parekh but mathematically, he has an outside chance for the title.

The rookie drivers have also done well in the championship with Tejas Ram, the highest placed rookie at fourth while Chetan Korada sits fifth.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Parekh said: "I have not led the championship since the Round 1, so it is good to be ahead again.

"Karthik [Tharani] is really quick, so I will have a real fight on my hands this weekend."

Tharani oozed confidence of clinching the title at MMRT. "I am confident that I can fight for the championship heading into the final round," he said.

"I had bad luck in the last round which cost me points. I will try to make sure that this does not happen this weekend."

MD of JA Motorsport, J Anand said: "It is always a boost to any championship to have the title being decided in the final race.

"We have had a good mix of experienced drivers along with some promising rookies. We look forward to a good finale to the end the season on a high."
