The second leg comprised of three gravel stages - effectively a single stage that was run thrice in two directions - of 39.61 km each, with additional transport sections that were 93.22 km long.

On top of it, a Super Special Stage was held on an artificially prepared gravel track in the heart of Chitradurga, a town near Vedavati river in Karnataka. The Super Special was introduced last year in Dakshin Dare as a means of taking the rally to the masses.

Including the SSS, the total competitive distance for Ultimate Cars participants was 120.83 km, while bikers were timed for 81.22 km as they only had to complete the day’s main stage twice.

In the former category, Yadav, who drives a Maruti Suzuki Gypsy, extended his authority by setting the fastest time in the second leg. He currently holds a 3m15s lead with a total time of 4hr54m58s.

Defending champion Suresh Rana set the second fastest time in leg 2 to move up a place in the overall standings.

Rana’s gain came at the expense of two-time Dakshin Dare winner Sandeep Sharma, who slipped to third in the overall standings. Harvinder Bhola and Gaurav Chiripal were next up in the order, but someway behind the top three runners.

In the Ultimate Bikes category, defending champion R Nataraj propelled himself to the top of the standings by completing the second leg in a record time.

He holds a narrow 42 second advantage over TVS teammate Abdul Wahid, with Leg 1 winner Sanjay Kumar dropping down to third position.
