The 19th edition of the Raid de Himalaya traversed from Manali to Leh, with competitors covering a distance of around 2000 km over six days.

Only 10 drivers in the Xtreme Cars category made it to the finish, with Rana (co-driver PVS Murthy) taking the top spot with a total time of 9hr22m.17s.

The Manali-based driver, who drove a factory-prepared Grand Vitara, beat Sanjay Razdan (Karan Aukta) by nearly an hour to score a record 11th win in the Raid de Himalaya.

Sanjay Agarwal (N Smitha) completed the podium spots with third, another 22-minutes adrift of Razdan and his Gypsy.

Dharam Pal Jhangra (Sultan) was fourth in a Brezza, while Niju Padia (Sabatullah Khan) was fifth overall and highest among the T2 class runners.

In a field dominated by Gypsy and Grand Vitara cars, Padia’s Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was a breath of fresh air.

Xtreme Bikes: Tanveer edges out Nataraj

The fight for the Xtreme Bikes crown was a two-horse affair between TVS stablemates Tanveer and R Nataraj, with the former edging out his arch rival by exactly three minutes to win the prestigious cross-country rally.

Nataraj led the Xtreme Bikes class on the opening two days, before Tanveer turned up a gear and established a small gap for himself at the front of the pack.

Rajendra RE was classified third on a smaller capacity RTR 200, making it an all-TVS podium.

Imran Pasha continued TVS’ hegemony in fourth, while Vishwas SD completed the top-five.

Only 13 riders successfully completed the Xtreme Bikes category of the Raid de Himalaya, with majority of the retirements coming in the opening two legs.
