Guy Cosmo on podium at Sebring

Serbing, FL -- Coming off a strong showing at the season opener at Texas Motor Speedway, Guy Cosmo finished a definitive third in the Star Mazda Pro series at Sebring International Raceway, March 17. He earned his podium spot in the Racers Edge/K.C. Technical Services car in spite of the frame of his eyeglasses breaking during the race.

I was challenging for 2nd place when my glasses broke, explained Cosmo. I guess it was so bumpy that the pressure on the frames inside my helmet broke them. My glasses were crooked, so it distorted my vision and made it difficult to improve my position. The straight-aways here are so long, I would try to open my visor in hopes that the wind would straighten my glasses.

In 1999, Guy Cosmo distinguished himself as one of the hottest young drivers in the US when he won the US F2000 American Continental Championship, notching five victories in the process. Last season, the 23 year-old Long Island based driver spent 10 months in Denmark as the Mygale works development driver in the Scandinavian Formula 2000 series. While there, he scored two poles, two wins, and 14 top-five finishes on his way to a second place finish in the talent rich Scandinavian open-wheel series championship.

Guy qualified the Racers Edge/K.C. Technical Services Formula Mazda sixth and lost a few positions in a dramatic start at the legendary Sebring circuit. He climbed to third, although he had to recover from a low-speed spin in Turn 17. His lead over the field was strong enough that he never fell from his 3rd place spot.

During the eventful Superflo 12 Hours of Sebring, Cosmo was also busy assisting his associate sponsor, Nordan Composites, making bead molded seats for single seat cars. Nordan Composites uses a unique vacuum/bagging process to ensure drivers comfort and safety.
