STAR MAZDA TITLE CHASE COMMENCES FOR JDC MOTORSPORTS IN FLORIDA
Two-time series champion enters St. Petersburg season-opener having led the way in official testing

MINNEAPOLIS, MN. (March 23, 2011) – JDC MotorSports quest for a third Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear title gets underway on March 26th, with Round One being contested on the streets of St. Petersburg, FL. Thanks to a stellar driver line-up of multiple series race winner Tristan Vautier, former F2000 Championship Series champion Chris Miller, and talented series rookies Nick Mancuso and Richard Heistand under the awning, combined with the top times from official series testing, the Minnesota-based squad is excited to get the 2011 campaign started.

As a two-time series champion and multiple race winner, JDC MotorSports is always one of the teams to watch when the latest edition of the Star Mazda Championship commences. That is certainly the case in 2011. Focused on retaking the top spot in the standings, having last captured the series title in 2009, the leading junior formula car squad enters the season-opener having reloaded its arsenal of talent behind the wheel via a quality mix of series veterans and newcomers.

Vautier leads the JDC charge into western Florida, the French driver having not only won twice in his rookie campaign last year, but also topped all but one session in the recent three-day official Spring Training test at Barber Motorsports Park.

Another series veteran, Miller also impressed in pre-season testing, building on his solid rookie campaign by regularly posting times among the lead pack.

Not to be out done, both Mancuso and Heistand have not let their lack of Star Mazda experience slow them down, cracking the top-10 multiple times during the official series testing in Alabama.

Given these performances, combined with the fact a JDC car finished on the podium during the initial series visit to the St. Petersburg street circuit last year, the stage is set for the team to continue a recent trend of JDC drivers and alumni visiting victory lane to start the season.

Australian Luke Ellery got the ball rolling this past Friday (March 18) by winning Round Two of the USF2000 National Championship in a JDC MotorSports entry at Sebring International Raceway. One day later, JDC alumni Dane Cameron (the 2007 Star Mazda Champion) and Mike Guasch (2009 Star Mazda Masters Champion) followed suite, winning the Le Mans Prototype Championship class during the American Le Mans Series 12 Hours of Sebring season-opener.
