O’Ward scores second Pro Mazda win of the weekend
Patricio “Pato” O’Ward headed a Team Pelfrey 1-2 for the second time this weekend with a lights-to-flag victory over teammate Aaron Telitz.

O’Ward, whose future at the team remains uncertain due to budgetary issues, did the best job of making himself indispensable this weekend. His perfect start today from pole left his rivals with no option other than to fight among themselves.
On the opening lap, Telitz was in serious risk of losing his second place to fast-starting Juncos Racing pilot Garett Grist who stayed alongside him all the way down to Turn 5, no matter what Telitz did (ethically, it must be said) to intimidate him.
But that was all rendered for nothing when the full course caution flew.
The third Pelfrey driver Weiron Tan banged wheels with Juncos’ second driver Jake Parsons at the drop of the green, and the pair waited a whole two corners before getting together again, the result of which was Tan barrel-rolling through the runoff.
Thankfully he was uninjured, but both cars were casualties in the race.
On the restart, Telitz had nothing for O’Ward and this time Grist could offer little challenge to the Pelfrey cars.
Ward came home with a 2.1sec-lead, while Telitz finished a full 12sec ahead of Grist.
Four seconds adrift of Grist was Juncos teammate Will Owen, while Nico Jamin and Jake Eidson filled out the top six for Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing.
