MATOS GETS SECOND VICTORY IN STAR MAZDA PRESENTED BY GOODYEAR SERIES
BRASELTON, Ga. (April 16, 2005) -- Raphael Matos collected his second straight Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear race victory when he won at Road Atlanta.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for Star Mazda racing.
Matos won the 30-lap chase around the twisting, 2.54-mile road course despite starting fifth on the grid and falling to ninth place early in the going. He took the lead on the 24th circuit and was not headed after that.
Scott Jenkins finished second after starting on the pole. Matt Jaskol was third, followed by Jonathan Bomarito and Ryan Justice. The starting field included 40 starters.
Jonathan Klein soldiered home to a 13th-place finish after starting 34th. Klein drove a car rented from another competitor after an early-weekend problem took his car out of competition.
The tires designed and built for the Star Mazda Series presented by Goodyear are part of the tiremaker's bias-ply line of sports car tires.
