Telitz, whose only win in USF2000 last year came at this very track, led the wet-dry session heading into the dying minutes, only to be passed by Grist.
However, he responded by going 0.014s faster, securing his second pole position of the series.
Telitz and Grist were class of the field, with the former's teammates Weiron Tan and Patricio O'Ward finishing as best of the rest, six tenths down.
Will Owen finished as the second-best Juncos car in fifth, heading the Cape duo of Jake Eidson and Nico Jamin, who were both more than a second adrift of pole.
Juncos duo Nicolas Dapero and Jake Parsons and JDC MotorSports driver Jorge Cevallos rounded out the field.
