EDWARDS WINS STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP RACE IN UTAH
TUELE, Utah (May 18, 2008) -- John Edwards captured victory when he won the second race of the 2008 season in the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at Miller Motorsports Park.
Edwards posted the fastest qualifying time and led every lap in the race around the 3.04-mile road racing circuit.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for all Star Mazda racing series. Those series include the national championship series as well as the regional series that cover North America. The 2008 season marks the first for the series on Goodyear's new radial construction. The tires have generated uniformly positive response from the competitors.
Edwards beat second finisher Charles Hall by 14.51 seconds. Joel Miller finished third, followed by Peter Dempsey and Tom Gladdis.
Phil Fogg Jr. won the Expert class race for drivers aged 30 to 44 and finished 11th overall. Gerry Kraut won the Masters class for drivers over 44 years of age. Kraut finished 17th overall.
Miller retained the points lead with an 82-80 advantage over Hall.
