MANDARINO WINS UTAH ROUND OF STAR MAZDA SCHEDULE
TOOELE, Utah (May 19, 2007) -- Lorenzo Mandarino won his first victory in the Star Mazda Championship Series presented by Goodyear when he captured the series' fourth round of the 2007 season at Miller Motorsports Park. The race was part of the Larry H. Miller Dealerships Utah Grand Prix weekend.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for Star Mazda racing, including the regional and age group divisions that compete on road racing circuits around the country.
Mandarino edged runner-up James Davidson by 1.235 seconds at the finish. Davidson recorded his fourth top-10 finish of the season. Jonathan Goring finished third, followed by Dane Cameron and Marco Di Leo.
Di Leo posted the fastest qualifying lap and would have started at the front of the field, but he was forced to start at the back of the field after a technical violation was discovered after qualifying ended. Still, he charged to fifth place in a field of 25 cars.
