Graham Rahal, Takuma Sato and JR Hildebrand all found the wall in the final session of IndyCar’s open test at Phoenix International Raceway, but through it all Ryan Hunter-Reay came out top.
Graham Rahal, who suffered a spin and scrape along the wall in the final session of the Phoenix test, says he’s already noticing the technical progress made at Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing-Honda over the winter.
JR Hildebrand lapped Phoenix International Raceway at 193.234mph to set the fastest time ever at PIR, although because it wasn’t set in an official session, it won’t be recognized in the IndyCar record books.
The new right-side IndyCar tires that Firestone Racing has devised for the Phoenix International Raceway have received positive reviews from the drivers, but Firestone is not expecting them to directly affect the racing.
