Oriol Servià, #96 Telefonica/Toyota-Reynard

Morning Practice: 15th Qualified: 12th

On Qualifying:

"Everything felt much, much better today. Some of that could have been me getting used to the track but I am very happy with my car. We have been improving throughout the weekend. Yesterday was a very difficult day for both teams. I would like to be starting in the top ten, but at least I am back in the fast group for Laguna Seca, and I was the fastest rookie today as well, so that is a positive for sure."

Cristiano da Matta, #97 Pioneer Electronics/WorldCom/Toyota-Reynard

Morning Practice: 2nd Qualified: 7th

On Qualifying:

"I am very happy with my car today. Yesterday, we had a tough time; I could not put my finger on exactly what was wrong. Today has been very good. We were second quick this morning, and this afternoon we made big improvements on the grid by qualifying seventh. Unfortunately, I had a mechanical failure with four minutes left in the session, and that is a lot of time. I don't think we would have been on pole, but we definitely could have been in the top five if I would have been able to stay out those last four minutes. We had just been in for tires and made a good change to the car, and then I went out and only did one lap before I stopped, so that was unfortunate. I am looking forward to tomorrow, I think we have a very good race car."
