MAURICIO GUGELMIN - # 17 NEXTEL PACWEST TOYOTA

Position: 19th Time: 32.631s Total Laps: 33 Speed: 220.649mph

"We're not handling too well today," said Gugelmin. "Since we raced here last season we have changed a few things on the car, but I think tonight we will go back on a few of those changes and use some set-up information from last year to help us out. Basically, it feels like we have no balance at all. We do get a lot more drag with the new wing configuration but we need to find more grip as well. Tomorrow's practice session will be very important for us to make sure we have things right for qualifying."

SCOTT DIXON - # 18 POWERWARE PANASONIC PACWEST TOYOTA

Position: 26th Time: 33.426s Total Laps: 60 Speed: 215.401mph

"I have no grip at all," said Dixon. "We made several changes to the car today, but nothing we have done seems to give me a better balance. I'll be meeting with my engineers to try to help them figure something out, but right now we have the slowest car in the field - and that's just not good enough. I was running alone for most of the session while I'm sure some guys got their times in a tow, but we still have a lot of work to do before qualifying."
