Sebring, Fla. - The CART Champ Car World Series will hold its 2003 Spring Training at Sebring International Raceway Feb. 4-6.
Sebring has long been the winter home for CART teams, however this will mark the first time the legendary raceway has hosted Spring Training. The event is the final tune-up for CART teams in preparation for the season opener Feb. 23 in St Petersburg, Florida.
CART Spring Training is open to the public all three days. Admission is $10 per day and overnight camping will be permitted. The CART teams will test on Sebring's "short course," and use the Midway as the paddock so fans can have up-close access to the teams.
"Sebring International Raceway provides us with a top-flight opportunity for our teams to get their pre-season preparation underway for the Bridgestone Presents The Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford campaign," stated CART President and CEO Chris Pook. "The facility has shown its ability to host major-league events and, when combined with the pleasant Florida weather, gives our teams a chance to get ready for the season opener in St. Petersburg."
The CART Champ Car World Series features an array of international driving stars including Paul Tracy, Bruno Junqueria, Alex Tagliani, Adrian Fernandez, Patrick Carpentier and Jimmy Vasser.
Following CART Spring Training, Sebring will host the 51st Annual Mobil1 12 Hours of Sebring on Saturday, March 15. The opening event of the American Le Mans Series features the worlds leading sports car teams. Early indications are the entry will be one of the finest ever with Bentley, Audi, Panoz, Corvette, Ferrari and Porsche among the many manufacturers participating.
