(The following is an update on Stan Fox's condition from Brian Hemelgarn from Hemelgarn Racing. I am reposting it with his permission. It is dated 95-06-07 23:47:20 EDT)
Things are looking brighter! Yesterday afternoon, a nurse asked Stan if he could hear her. He responded by nodding his head. He has also opened his eyes a couple of times.
Although he is off the respirator, he still has (had) a tube in his throat to aid him with breathing. Since he is attempting to respond, the tube has been removed from his mouth and throat, and the doctors performed a tracheatomy (spelling??). This will allow him to speak when he's ready. The tracheatomy replaces the tube in giving him breathing assistance. He has not been listed as "conscious" yet, but things seem to be heading that direction. We remain very hopeful for a full recovery!
