HILLIARD, OH . . . Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) competitor Team Rahal, Hewlett-Packard Company and WPsuperstore.com announced today the formation of a joint e-commerce initiative with the launch of an online poster-on-demand program. The program, developed by Team Rahal associate sponsor Hewlett-Packard, will offer race fans around the world the opportunity to purchase high-quality photographic reproductions of Team Rahal's Champ Cars via the Internet.
"Some of the photography that is captured at the track borders on breath taking," said three-time CART Champion and Team Rahal co-owner Bobby Rahal. "We have received hundreds of requests through our website to purchase some of the images that we use in the marketing and promotion of the team. This program provides an opportunity to fans of CART and Team Rahal to purchase a quality reproduction of some of the very best of those photos."
The pilot program was developed with the race fan in mind, allowing the images to be selected and purchased online, printed on HP Design Jet printers and shipped directly to the fan. The prints will be printed by HP on photo-quality paper, matte paper and/or canvas, and shipped via overnight mail to their door.
"This program will highlight one of the commercial uses of HP Design Jet Printers and allows us to leverage our ongoing relationship with Team Rahal," said Marsi Bennett, Business Development Manager for Hewlett-Packard and the project leader for the poster-on-demand program. "We are excited about this opportunity and feel that this pilot program is one that we can utilize with a number of unique sports and entertainment partners on-line."
Fans will be able to access the program through links on the Team Rahal website Team Rahal website or on WPsuperstore.com site. WPsuperstore.com is owned and operated by Team Rahal co-owner David Letterman's production company, Worldwide Pants Incorporated. WPsuperstore.com is the official merchandising site of The Late Show with David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, Everybody Loves Raymond and Team Rahal.
"As the official on-line merchandise partner for Team Rahal, we jumped at the chance to bring such a wonderful and unique product to our customers," said Helen J. Stoddard, Director of WPsuperstore.com. "I'm excited to be able to share these compelling images of Team Rahal in action."
The poster-on-demand program will officially launch on Friday, June 23rd and will initially offer 12 images including some from Bobby Rahal's legendary racing career, as well as those of current Team Rahal drivers Max Papis in the Miller Lite car and Kenny Brack in the Shell car. New images will be added to the program following each race of the 2000 CART FedEx Championship Series.
