Sebastien Bourdais Returns to IndyCar with Dale Coyne Racing
Plainfield, Illinois (March 24, 2011) – The much anticipated return of four time IndyCar Champion Sebastien Bourdais, launches this weekend at St. Petersburg with Dale Coyne Racing and the Boy Scouts of America car.
Sebastien Bourdais will proudly carry the Boy Scouts of America Fleur-de-lis banner in his return to IndyCar where he achieved great success in the past decade. He will drive all road and street course races for the #19 Dale Coyne Racing effort in 2011. Sebastien, a former resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, will challenge for the prestigious Road Course Championship as a part of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar series.
“I’m excited to join Dale Coyne Racing and to be in an IndyCar again,” stated Bourdais. “Together Dale and I are dedicated to our goals as we move forward.”
The #19 Boy Scouts of America car will proudly compete again in 2011 representing the over 4 million members of the world’s largest youth organization. The red white and blue BSA car will also carry Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q as a presenting sponsor.
“We’re very excited to have someone of Sebastien’s talent join our team for this effort in 2011,” reported team owner Dale Coyne. “We have a lot of work ahead, but we have put a stellar group of engineers and mechanics together continuing the strongest possible effort for the Boy Scouts and our family of supporters.”
Sebastien’s resume is impressive. During his 5 year run in Champ Car he amassed 31 wins and a highly coveted four consecutive Championships from 2004 through 2007. Prior to the talented Frenchman coming to America, he enjoyed much success in smaller formula cars including three years in Formula 3000, winning the highly competitive Championship in 2002.
After his last full season in Champ Car in 2007, Sebastien would move to Formula 1 with Toro Rosso in 2008 and 2009. In the mean time Sebastien was named to the factory Peugeot team and will share his 2011 driving duties between IndyCar and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
“My home town is Le Mans, and to win there is very important to me,” commented Bourdais. “But winning here in the States is equally as important, and I want to thank Dale for the impressive effort he is putting forth in what is a very competitive series.”
Sebastien is in his American home town of St. Petersburg, Florida with his wife Claire and two young children as they prepare to return to the race that started his Indycar career in 2003.
