Today, the 2013 Champion found himself on point of the 85-lap race with only two laps to go when he passed Mike Conway, who was saving fuel.

The win was the 35th of his career, tying him with Bobby Unser for fifth overall in wins.

Conway, who was looking to be able to collect his third win of the season, ran out of fuel with only a couple turns remaining, relegating him to 14th.

Despite the second win of the year for Dixon, he jumps to fourth in the championship.

The big story of the day was Will Power and Helio Castroneves’ which for the first and second place drivers in the championship was not exactly ideal.

Castroneves was involved in a wreck in turn two of the first lap, hurting his car and forcing him down pit lane during the caution.

Power suffered a spin towards the middle of the race, sending him to the back of the running order.

Power ended his day in 9th, while Castroneves couldn’t get the car back under him after the early incident, and finished 18th.

Next weekend, Power will take his larger lead to Fontana for his third chance at a title in 4 years, while the double points situation will see Castroneves again show up with an outside chance at getting his first title as well.
