The graphic will cover 74,538sq.ft of window space, and is made up of 501 panels. Were these panels laid end to end, they would be 13,200 feet / 2.5 miles in length – precisely the length of one lap around Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The 100th running of the Indy 500 is due to take place on Sunday, May 29.

James Verrier, CEO of BorgWarner Inc. said: “It’s great to see downtown Indy transforming for the 100th running!

“Everyone at BorgWarner is proud of the Borg-Warner Trophy and the competitive spirit it represents. I am looking forward to awarding it to the winning driver in Victory Lane this May.”

Last year’s winner Juan Pablo Montoya added: “That giant Borg-Warner Trophy they are putting on the side of the JW Marriott is amazing. It's a great way to kick things off for Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the city of Indianapolis heading into May.

“The 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 is going to be pretty special in a lot of ways. It's cool to be the defending champion and of course, it's my goal to win again in the Verizon Chevy for Team Penske and get Roger his 17th Baby Borg."

Panels are being installed by hand, using a dual set of swing stages attached to the building.

Work on the graphic started this morning, and is expected to be complete by May 2.
