Rain Washes Out Iowa Qualifying, Conquest's Bernoldi and Camara to start 17th and 21st
Newton, Iowa (June 21, 2008) - Qualifying for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 presented by Pioneer was cancelled today at Iowa Speedway when rain started falling after only two drivers had made their qualifying attempts. With the cancellation of qualifying, tomorrow's starting line-up was set by entrant points placing Conquest Racing's Enrique Bernoldi and Jaime Camara respectively 17th and 21st on the grid.
The Iowa Corn Indy 250 presented by Pioneer gets underway at 1:30 p.m. eastern time, tomorrow, Sunday, June 22 and will be broadcast live on ABC starting at 1:00 p.m. eastern time.
Conquest Racing Quoteboard
17th - Enrique Bernoldi #36 Sangari Dallara/Honda/Firestone "It's disappointing that qualifying was rained out because we had found some speed in the last practice session and it would have been nice to see where it placed us in the field. I really enjoy the track and look forward to tomorrow's race, it should be fun. Hopefully we can have a strong race and cross the finish line in a competitive position."
21st - Jaime Camara #34 Sangari Dallara/Honda/Firestone "It's unfortunate that qualifying was cancelled today because it would have been nice to get in a qualifying run and give the fans some additional on-track action. Fortunately 21st is pretty much where we have been in practice today and during yesterday's test so in the end we didn't lose anything with the rain. Tomorrow should be an interesting race, we will do our best to make our way up through the field and get a good result."
