MEIJER ANNOUNCES SPONSORSHIP OF ANDRETTI GREEN RACING FOR 2007 SEASON

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Dec. 4, 2006) - Meijer today announced its sponsorship of Andretti Green Racing, the winningest team in Indy Racing League history, for the 2007 Indy Racing League IndyCar Series season.

Meijer, the Midwest-based retail and grocery supercenter giant, will expand Andretti Green Racing's partnership portfolio as an associate sponsor on the #7 Team Motorola entry driven by 2005 IndyCar Series rookie of the year Danica Patrick.

"We're proud to welcome Meijer to our team for the 2007 IndyCar Series season," said Michael Andretti, who co-owns Andretti Green Racing with partners Kim Green and Kevin Savoree. "Meijer has 176 stores throughout the Midwest and the IndyCar Series schedule puts our cars in some of Meijer's most important markets. We hope to get them into victory lane in 2007."

Much like Michael Andretti has done in racing, Fred Meijer has continued his father's legacy by leading Meijer stores to new heights. With extraordinary selection, low prices and great service, the second-generation Meijer has incorporated his family's ideals into Meijer stores.

"Meijer is proud to partner with other family businesses like Andretti Green Racing and we know 2007 will be a victory for our families and race fans everywhere," said Stacie Behler, Vice President of Corporate Communication and Public Affairs for Meijer.

Based in Grand Rapids, Mich., Meijer has always led the pack with innovative thinking and recently announced a free prescription drug program that provides antibiotics, free of charge, with a special emphasis on those most often filled for children. The no-strings-attached offer is available to all Meijer customers, regardless of insurance, with no card, membership or purchase required.

Since joining the Indy Racing League in 2003, Andretti Green Racing has claimed 23 IndyCar Series victories including the 2005 Indianapolis 500, four wins in the Pro Series and two IndyCar Series championships. In 2007, AGR will also field an XM-sponsored Acura-powered Courage in the American Le Mans Series.

About Meijer Meijer is a retail supercenter offering a full grocery department plus over 40 other departments including Fashion, Automotive, Home Decor, Health and Beauty Care, Pharmacy, Electronics, Pet and more. Meijer began as a local grocer and in 1962 opened the first Meijer Thrifty Acres, a food and general merchandise supercenter. Meijer now has 176 stores in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois and Kentucky. You can learn more about Meijer at www.meijer.com.
