Notes and quotes from the Firestone Indy 225 at Nazareth Speedway.

Actor Anthony Edwards, known for playing Dr. Mark Greene on the television series "ER," will wave the green flag to start Sunday's Firestone Indy 225.

Seven drivers competing in Sunday's race have earned victories at Nazareth Speedway. Buddy Rice won the Toyota Atlantic race in 1998, while Alex Barron, Robbie Buhl and Bryan Herta have each won an Indy Lights race on the one-mile oval. Scott Dixon and Gil de Ferran have scored CART victories and Scott Sharp won last year's IndyCar Series race.

***

Mo Nunn officials have withdrawn the No. 12 entry of Tora Takagi, replacing it with the No. 12T backup car. Takagi had qualified his primary car with a lap at 160.829 mph.

***

Nazareth Speedway is home to the first USAC Silver Crown race. Held June 20, 1971, on the dirt surface of the 1 1/8-mile track, the race was won by Jim McElreath.

***

Bobby East will not compete in the sprint car race during this weekend's USAC tripleheader despite taking his first USAC Sprint car victory at Mansfield Speedway (Ohio) last weekend. East will compete in both the Midget and Silver Crown divisions.

***

Coming into the Nazareth event, Toyota leads the Manufacturers championship 111-84 over Honda. Chevrolet, which recently introduced a new Gen IV engine, has 69 points. Dallara has been awarded 105 points while Panoz G Force has scored 99. Toyota will clinch the championship with a victory in the Nazareth event.

***

Five drivers will run in each of the three USAC divisions this weekend. Dave Steele, J.J. Yeley, A.J. Fike, Jay Drake and Tracy Hines will do triple duty.
