IRL: California: Rick Treadway qualifying notes

Fontana, CA: Rick Treadway will start 11th in tomorrow's Yamaha Indy 400 from the California Speedway. Treadway's single qualifying lap registered 217.853 MPH in his #55 Airlink Enterprises/Spade Motorsports entry for Treadway Racing.

"The car felt good," said Treadway. "I wish we would have had that second lap. I think I could have gone a little faster and put her in the top ten. I really felt like I was in Hollywood with our little drama and worrying whether the car was going to run. The team did a great job getting the car ready. It should be a great race tomorrow. I think the fans are going to be for a good one and I just planning on being there at the end."

Treadway aborted his first qualifying run after the team noticed a fuel pressure problem after taking the green flag. Since Treadway did not complete a qualifying lap he was able to go to the rear of the qualifying line but was then entitled to only one qualifying lap.

Treadway's speed was 12th fastest, but Robbie Buhl who had qualified 5th impacted the turn one wall after his qualifying run and has not been cleared to drive.

The Yamaha Indy 400 from the California Speedway can be seen on ESPN at 3:30 p.m. EST Sunday March 24th.
