Lazzaro's day ends early.
St. Louis: Anthony Lazzaro's return to the No.20 Casino Queen/BG Products/Sam Schmidt Motorsports entry ended prematurely when he crashed in turn four of the morning warm up session for the Gateway Indy 250. The car suffered extensive damage and team was unable to repair the car in time for the race. Lazzaro had qualified 17th for the race.
"I really don't know what happened," said Lazzaro. "I had just gone back out and got on the throttle and the thing swapped ends. It's certainly disappointing."
Although the car did not start the race, since the car qualified for the race the team is credited with a last place finish. The team slips to tenth in season entrant points.
The next race is the Delphi Indy 300 from the Chicagoland Speedway on September 8th. The race can be seen on ABC television at 1 p.m. EDT.
