Homestead,FL: Rookie Felipe Giaffone will start outside the second row in just his second INDY Racing League event. Giaffone turned a lap of 27.1069 seconds or 199.211 MPH in his #21 Hollywood/G-Force/Oldsmobile/ Firestone entry for Treadway-Hubbard Racing to earn the fourth starting spot on the grid.
"The car was just really good," said Giaffone. "We made some changes after the morning warm up and my engineer Mike (Colliver) and the crew got it just perfect. It was my best lap ever here in Homestead. I guess it was a good time for that. I'm really, really happy right now for the whole Hollywood Treadway-Hubbard team. We'll have a great car for the race and I just hope I can be there at the end of the race."
Giaffone was the top qualifying rookie for both INDY Racing League events in 2001. The Infiniti Grand Prix of Miami can be seen live at 2 P.M . EDT on ABC television Sunday April 8.
