Which single U.S. city plays host to Winston Cup, a NHRA National, sprint cars, midgets, supercross, Formula One and Indy cars? It's Indianapolis, home the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the 85th running of the Indy 500, which celebrates opening day on Sunday, May 6.
Activities on opening day at the Speedway include a driver's autograph session from 11:00 - 12:30 and opening day ceremonies at 1:00 p.m. The track will then be open for practice from 1:15 to 6:00 p.m.
>From Indianapolis Raceway Park on the west side to the Speedrome on the east, Indianapolis sets the stage for unparalleled diversity along the racing spectrum. Although the Indianapolis Motor Speedway takes center stage during the month of May, central Indiana hosts racing to suit all tastes. Fans visiting Indianapolis for the 500 have plenty of opportunity to attend several different types of automobile races.
Motorsport.com's race chaser schedule for Indianapolis will have you on your way to becoming a nationally recognized race chaser in less than thirty days. Get out your copy of Allan Brown's "National Speedway Directory" (a must for all race chasers) for directions. Ladies and gentleman, start your engines.
