"We spent most of the day working on longer runs, and getting my line where it needs to be. We weren't the quickest car on the track today, but our laps were consistent and that was what we wanted to accomplish. It was a good day, we got some mileage on our Chevy engine and plenty of good data. It was quite a long day, but well worth while."

Tomas Scheckter
219.172 mph
41.0636 seconds
47 laps

"We accomplished what we wanted today. The Pennzoil Panther guys worked hard to get through the changes we needed to get ready for a quick stint in the afternoon. Everybody on the track is getting quicker, and our Chevrolet is going to be right there with the rest of the guys. We achieved a lot and will keep the momentum heading into tomorrow."

News & Notes: Mark Taylor ran more laps than any driver on the track today (115) ..... Scheckter was the fastest Chevrolet driver for the third consecutive day. Taylor spent a great deal of the afternoon working on his line with spotters Pancho Carter (Turn One) and 1983 Indianapolis 500 winner Tom Sneva, who was stationed in Turn Three ....
