Castroneves unveils likeness on trophy.

INDIANAPOLIS, Thursday, April 18, 2002 -- 2001 Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves took part in ceremonies April 15 unveiling his likeness on the famed Borg-Warner Trophy at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.

Castroneves also unveiled the ticket for the 2002 Indianapolis 500, which features photos of Castroneves in Victory Circle and undertaking his now-famous fence climb after winning the "500" last year. The 86th running of the "500" is scheduled for 11 a.m. (EST) on May 26.

The 92-pound sterling silver Borg-Warner Trophy, commissioned in 1936, features a bas-relief sculpture of every Indianapolis 500 winner dating back to the inaugural race in 1911.

"It looks like I'm going 220 mph without a helmet," said Castroneves of the portrait. "My name is there, that's what I'm looking for. I'm a blessed person, and I work hard to achieve what I achieve.

"It's an honor to be sharing the trophy with all these great names. You just have to keep faith and believe in the guy upstairs because he makes dreams come true, you know?"

Castroneves said the 2002 ticket brings back fond memories of the biggest day of his racing career.

"It's fun because it's showing all the good moments that I believe people remember from last year," said Castroneves. "It's great. I'm sure when people will come they will say, 'Hey remember, that was a great time.' I don't mind signing 450,000 tickets. I'll be happy to do it."

Marlboro Team Penske Taking Experience, New Look to Nazareth: Team Penske drivers Gil de Ferran and Helio Castroneves have both raced on the 1-mile Nazareth Speedway oval in recent years, and the team hopes that will translate to success at the Firestone Indy 225 on April 21.

de Ferran has competed at Nazareth in the CART series over the past seven years, having earned three top-five finishes, including a victory in 2000. That race marked de Ferran's first career victory on an oval, first win with Marlboro Team Penske and Roger Penske's historic 100th win as a car owner.

Castroneves competed at Nazareth Speedway for the last four years, also with the CART series. He qualified in the top-five three times.

In recognition of Marlboro Team Penske's achievement as the winningest team in Indy-style racing history, the team's cars will have a new look at the Firestone Indy 225 at Nazareth Speedway on April 21. The Marlboro Team Penske logo, which currently adorns the drivers' helmets and other team equipment, now will appear on the rear wing, side pods and nose cones of both cars.
