INDIANAPOLIS, April 19, 1999 - Country music stars Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw are the featured performers for the 1999 Coors Carb Day Concert at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, on Thursday, May 27, from 4-6 p.m. The concert, scheduled to take place on the stage at Indy FanFest adjacent to the Hall of Fame Museum, is free with $10 general admission to the Speedway grounds. The general admission fee includes admission to all Carburetion Day events. "We were excited by the fans' support of the first-ever Carb Day concert last year," said Lee Dolan, field marketing director for Coors Brewing Company. "We think even more fans will want to expand their Carb Day fun by seeing Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw at this year's free concert. The show will be spectacular, appealing to both race fans and country music fans." Morgan, the daughter of Grand Ole Opry star George Morgan, grew up among the lights and country music of Nashville, Tenn. The 39-year-old star has been performing since she was 17. Her career took off in 1989 with the release of "Dear Me." Morgan has added hits including "Five Minutes," "Something in Red," and "What Part of No" since then. Kershaw, 41, is a native of the southern Louisiana community of Abbeville. He has been a major presence on the country music scene since 1991 and has numerous hit songs, including "Vidalia," "Politics, Religion, and Her," "She Don't Know She's Beautiful," and "Yard Sale." Morgan and Kershaw are featured on a new hit duet, "Maybe Not Tonight," which debuted on radio in February. Morgan's new album, "My Heart," and Kershaw's latest release, "Maybe Not Tonight," each feature the duet. Both albums were released on the same day, April 13. Coors is the title sponsor of Carburetion Day, and Coors Light is the Official Beer of the Indianapolis 500 and the Pep Boys Indy Racing League. The Coors Carb Day Concert provides the finishing touches to a busy day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Carburetion Day is the final day of practice for Pep Boys Indy Racing League drivers competing in the 83rd Indianapolis 500. Gates open to the public at 8 a.m., with practice for the 33 Indy 500 starters taking place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The annual Coors Pit Stop Challenge gets underway at 1:30 p.m. The green flag drops on the 83rd Indianapolis 500 at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 30.
