Indianapolis, IN-11/30/99 Longtime Indy car owners Jonathan Byrd and Dennis McCormack, two of the Indy Racing League's original entrants, have teamed up to form the Indy Racing League's newest team. The new team, Jonathan Byrd/McCormack Motorsports, will begin competition starting with the first race of the 2000 season at the Walt Disney World Speedway. The merged organization creates a team with a tremendous amount of Indy Racing experience, as well as an operation whose engineering, technical development, and race preparation will be second to none. For the 2000 season, the team will continue its winning relationship with Firestone, and campaign a G-Force chassis to be powered by Oldsmobile.

"I can't tell you how excited I am about the prospects of this team." Proclaimed team co-owner Jonathan Byrd. "Dennis and I have been friends for years, and have talked about working together for some time. It seems like a very natural fit, and I'm looking forward to a successful long-term relationship, with many victories and championships to come."

Echoing his partner's statements, team co-owner Dennis McCormack added "Jonathan and I have enjoyed a tremendous relationship over the years, and have often helped each other out when difficult situations arose. When the opportunity to combine our operations presented itself, I knew that it was the right thing to do, and I too am looking forward to a tremendous amount of success both on and off the track."

Jonathan Byrd/McCormack Motorsports is making plans to be a multi-car operation, and although drivers have yet to be named, the team has assembled an experienced, capable, championship caliber crew, positioning the new organization to be a front-runner from the drop of the green flag in Orlando through the checkered flag in October at the Texas Motor Speedway. With the combined resources of these two teams, their individual track records of success, and the various areas of expertise and skill being brought together under one banner, Jonathan Byrd/McCormack Motorsports should be a force to be reckoned with on the race track for some time to come.
