Giaffone top G Force driver with another consistent run.
Mo Nunn Racing's Felipe Giaffone completed his sixth consecutive top five finish in Indy Racing League competition this year by finishing 4th aboard his G Force chassis at Kansas Speedway today.
After starting from position 19, Giaffone made strong progress to eventually hold off Gil de Feran at the completion of 200 laps.
His result could have been even higher if not for two problem pit stops - once for problems mounting the right rear tire and another with a stuck fuel hose.
"It was another tough race today, but we finished up near the front once again," Giaffone said.
"I think my car could have been in the top three, but I don't know if I could have gotten by Hornish or Dare because I never had a chance to run with them. It was exciting to fight with Gil at the end of the race.
"His car was faster than mine, but mine was sticking to the track better."
Jeff Ward finished 12th after clutch problems in his Chip Ganassi Racing G Force while Sarah Fisher completed the race in 14th place.
"We had a really good car, but made a miscommunication early that cost us. I wanted two turns out, and they put two turns in," Fisher said.
"We've only had one previous race together, but we'll get it straightened out between us. I think were happy that in the little window we had, we were able to get it back and go faster."
Fisher's team-mate Robbie Buhl and Rick Treadway both fell out of the race with engine problems.
"Today was frustrating. We got the car sorted out and were picking people off and moving toward the front, then we lost another engine," Buhl said.
"Theres no doubt that we could have been in it at the end."
The Indy Racing League has a weekend off next week before beginning a stretch of three races in four weeks.
The next race will be held under lights in Nashville on July 20 before the series visits the Michigan super speedway on July 28. That will be followed by the Kentucky race on August 11.
Part of Don Panoz's Elan Motorsport Technologies organization, the G Force headquarters in Georgia features full in-house design, fabrication, machining and composite construction facilities.
The largest manufacturer of racing cars in the world, the Elan group includes G Force, Formula Ford expert Van Dieman, leading American Le Mans Series team Panoz Motor Sports and specialist services companies Elan Power Products, Elan Precision and Elan Composites.
