Sharp to Start Eighth in Kentucky
Scott Sharp will start eighth in Sunday's Amber Alert Portal Indy 300 after qualifying was rained out this afternoon at Kentucky Speedway. Sharp, who recorded the sixth fastest time in each of two 45 minute practice sessions prior to qualifying, will be making his sixth IndyCar Series career start on the Sparta oval. In addition to being a former polesitter at Kentucky Speedway, he holds two top-five finishes including a runner-up result in 2001.
Scott Sharp, #8 Delphi Panoz/Honda/Firestone:
"It was a good day for the Delphi team. I am really excited about the thought and the energy and the work done by the engineering staff to keep moving our car along. The Fernandez team comes to Kentucky with a good setup based on last year's results. We are starting eighth but I feel we would have started a little bit higher if had the chance to qualify. It looked like we probably could have been third or fourth. I think we have a pretty good package for tomorrow, and I am excited for the race."
