VISION RACING HOPES TO MAKE LASTING FIRST IMPRESSION AT MID-OHIO

INDYCAR SERIES AND VISION RACING TO MAKE DEBUT AT MID-OHIO SPORTS CAR COURSE

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 19, 2007) -- The IndyCar Series will be making their debut at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend as will Vision Racing drivers Ed Carpenter, A.J. Foyt IV and Tomas Scheckter. Outside of an open-test in June, the trio will race the 2.4-mile, 15-turn road course for the first time.

Scheckter has the team's highest finish on road/street courses this season when he took sixth place after starting eighth on the streets of St. Petersburg. That sixth place run matches the team's top road/street course finish as well. Scheckter's teammate, Carpenter, finished sixth at Watkins Glen last year.

The IndyCar Series visited Watkins Glen just two races ago and unfortunately Scheckter did not fair as well as Carpenter did the season before. In spite of nursing an ill-handling car to finish 13th after starting in the same position, Scheckter did score the best finish of the weekend for Vision Racing.

He said, "We showed some speed at St. Petersburg and in our test at Mid-Ohio last month, so I know we can do well this weekend and it would be great to do that since we've been out of the top-10 after the last two races. Watkins Glen and Nashville didn't go how we would have liked, but we've got another opportunity before the break here at Mid-Ohio so we are going to take advantage of that and try and get another top-10 finish this weekend."

Carpenter will be making his debut at Mid-Ohio this weekend as well, and while relatively new to road and street course racing, he does share the team's highest finish on a road/street course. However, on road and street courses this season, Carpenter has not had such good fortune.

In the second race of the season on the streets of St. Petersburg, Carpenter started 16th and ran as high as 10th, but an incident with teammate, Foyt, ended his race early and left him in 18th. Recently at Watkins Glen, Carpenter started 17th and ran very strong, consistent laps, finishing in the 12th position.

"As a team, this weekend is important because we haven't performed as well as we would have liked the past couple of races," Carpenter noted. "Testing at Mid-Ohio in June is definitely going to help, but we still have our work cut out for us if we want to get back into the top-ten this weekend. I had a fairly good run at Watkins Glen a couple of weeks ago. At the end of that race we were putting together some pretty good lap times so I hope we can bring that to Mid-Ohio and get a better finish."

A.J. Foyt IV has just two road/street course races under his belt in his IndyCar Series career and in spite of his inexperience, he has made the most of each opportunity by finishing both events. On the streets of St. Petersburg, Foyt started 17th and finished 13th and at Watkins Glen he started 16th and ended the race in 15th. He hopes to be running at the finish again this weekend at Mid-Ohio so that he might continue to earn valuable road/street course experience.

"I was able to get through my first two road and street courses in an IndyCar at St. Pete and Watkins Glen so that was good for me to get out there and get some good experience and bring the car home," Foyt said.

"We definitely want to get another solid finish at Mid-Ohio and the guys have been working hard to give me a good car this weekend. We were able to test there so that's going to help me feel more comfortable and my teammates have been able to pass along some information to me so I'm ready to go out and have a good weekend."

All three Vision Racing drivers remained in the same spot in the IndyCar Series point championship standings this week. Scheckter is currently in the 10th spot for the fifth straight week, while Carpenter held on to the 14th position and Foyt kept 17th.

The 85-lap, 191.93-mile Honda 200 at Mid-Ohio, presented by Westfield Insurance will air live on Sunday, July 22nd, at 1:30 p.m. (EDT) on ABC Sports, IMS Radio Network, XM Satellite Radio channel 145 and on the web at www.IndyCar.com.
