Sharp 10th Overall in Bridgestone Indy Japan 300 Practice

Scott Sharp posted the 10th quickest time of the day in opening practice for Saturday's Bridgestone Indy Japan 300. Sharp, winner of the inaugural IndyCar Series race at Twin Ring Motegi in 2003, began the day eighth-fastest overall after the initial 45-minute practice session with a best lap of 27.7167 197.426 mph. The team was focusing on race setup during the final afternoon practice session, and Sharp was pleased with the day's progress.

He will be looking to improve on his best starting position of seventh on the 1.5-mile oval when Marlboro Pole Award Qualifying takes place tomorrow afternoon.

"This was a good session for us. We worked on race setup a lot this afternoon which we needed to do in these conditions because it is a lot like what it will probably be on Saturday. I am pleased with where the Delphi car is at, but we still need to do a little bit of work to get the speed we would like to see tomorrow for qualifying."
