McGehee in good shape: 1999 Indianapolis 500 Bank One Rookie of the Year Robby McGehee enters the 2002 Indy Racing League season in the best shape of his life after an aggressive offseason fitness program.

McGehee was forced to spend many hours of rehabilitation after suffering a broken leg in a three-car accident during the Casino Magic 500 last June at Texas Motor Speedway. Once he returned to the No. 10 Cahill Racing car last season, he continued his rigorous workout regimen.

'I've been working out very hard, and the doctors say my leg is 90 percent now," McGehee said. "I feel my endurance is better than it's ever been. I've been working out with a personal trainer three times a week, and on my own I ride a stationary bike three or four times a week.

"I've also changed my diet, and I'm eating extremely healthy foods. Like everybody, I slip every once in a while, but I've really been focusing on being in the best shape possible. I'm following a protein diet, and I've cut out a lot of carbs. I'm eating my broccoli and chicken and really working on it."
