Dan Wheldon on the XM Satellite Radio Indy 200:
"The last time the Klein Tools/Jim Beam team was at Phoenix, the open test went very well. But, the conditions at the open test were very different from what the race conditions will be like. Phoenix is a tough 1-mile oval and it's all about car handling. We've just got to make sure we can fine-tune the handling and that's something the Klein Tools/Jim Beam boys are real good at. It's a tough one, but I'm going to enjoy it and hopefully we can carry on our winning ways."
Dan Wheldon Facts
At the 2005 season-opening race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Wheldon picked up his fourth career IndyCar Series victory in dominating fashion by leading 158 of 200 laps.
By winning in Homestead, Wheldon now holds the IndyCar Series record for consecutive top-four finishes with eight. He finished the 2004 season with seven-consecutive top-four finishes.
Wheldon started on the pole and finished third in the 2004 race at Phoenix.
Wheldon finished the 2004 season in second place in the IndyCar Series points championship with 533 points; the second-highest point total in IndyCar Series history.
During the 2004 season, Wheldon recorded the first three IndyCar Series victories of his career.
In 2004, Wheldon led 192 laps to win at Twin Ring Motegi. He started in 20th position before driving to the win at Richmond and he won the final IndyCar Series event at Nazareth Speedway.
Wheldon has started in the front row on four occasions in his IndyCar Series career and has two career IndyCar Series poles, earning them consecutively at Phoenix and Twin Ring Motegi in 2004.
Eddie Jones, Race Engineer, #26 Klein Tools/Jim Beam Dallara/Honda/Firestone on the XM Satellite Radio Indy 200:
"As a team, we're quite confident going to Phoenix because we did test well there. However, we certainly haven't become complacent. Phoenix, like most short ovals, is a very difficult little track that can change with the weather and that can upset the balance of the car pretty easily. So, we're going into Phoenix fairly confident, but with caution as well."
