Bryan Herta on the SunTrust Indy Challenge:
"Richmond is the most physically demanding and busiest oval that we race on. Because it is the shortest track that we race on, you are always in traffic. It is such a challenge to have a car that can work the top or bottom to get through traffic. I really enjoy the type of racing that we do at Richmond and am looking forward to a good night in the XM Satellite Radio car."
Bryan Herta Facts
Herta's best finish in 2005 came at the Indianapolis 500 where he finished in third place. The finish was Herta's best at Indy.
Herta is fourth in the IndyCar Series points championship. Only two points separate the fourth and sixth-place drivers in the standings.
Herta has five-straight top-10 finishes. Since his first IndyCar Series race in 2003, Herta is tied for the fourth-most top-10 results among all IndyCar Series drivers and has the fifth-most top-five finishes.
In 2005, Herta has recorded the first two IndyCar Series pole positions of his career. He took his first pole in Phoenix at the XM Satellite Radio Indy 200 and the second in St. Petersburg.
Herta is only the 10th driver in IndyCar Series history to record consecutive poles, joining teammates Tony Kanaan and Dan Wheldon.
Herta drove the XM Satellite Radio car to a ninth-place finish in the 2004 points championship.
Herta has three career major open-wheel racing wins and nine poles.
Herta has one IndyCar Series victory, which came at Kansas Speedway in 2003.
Martin Pare, Race Engineer, #7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone on the SunTrust Indy Challenge:
"The tightness of the track and the banking make Richmond different from other small-oval tracks. In qualifying, we expect to be flat, so it will be very similar to Phoenix. The balance of the car will be crucial, so hopefully we can pick up where we left off in Phoenix and start well. The entire XM Satellite Radio team wants badly to win our first race, so that's the goal. That's what we're working for."
