Red Bull Cheever Racing visits Richmond bull ring.

The Red Bull Cheever Racing squad completed 214 laps of practice in the first day of running in the two-day event at Richmond International Raceway. Eddie Cheever Jr. ran as high as 11th fastest in practice, but fell back to 17th place in qualifying with a 161.187 mph lap (16.75 seconds.) On his first visit to the .75-mile Richmond bull ring, Tomas Scheckter was 19th fastest in practice and drove his best lap of the weekend in qualifying (160.816 mph, 16.79 seconds) to start 18th in tomorrow night's SunTrust Indy Challenge.

Eddie Cheever Jr. on Qualifying
"I heard if you do a 15-second lap you can see the tail of your car in turn one when you are coming out of four. It's a little quicker this year. It's very busy. There is a lot of excitement for the race here in Richmond. That is very motivating for the drivers. Tomorrow night will be a good show. We are struggling today. We can find a decent balance, but we can't pick up enough grip."

Tomas Scheckter on Qualifying
"This is all new for me today, so it is very difficult. Especially with a two-day event, where you have two 45-minute practice sessions and then you go out to qualify. That is not very much time to get used to the circuit and get the car setup right. At least we were able to start with what Eddie used here last year. We are doing the best we can. At Phoenix and Nazareth I was able to pull things off, but I had more testing then. Richmond is a nice track. It's really tight. It's very demanding on the driver and the cars as well."

Race Information
The SunTrust Indy Challenge starts at 7:30 (EDT) Saturday, June 29. The race will be televised live on ESPN and by the Indy Racing Radio Network. Live timing and scoring of all on-track activity can be found on www.indyracing.com.
