The five Northern Light Series teams testing at Richmond International Raceway have found the track's .75-mile D-shape extremely challenging. At the afternoon break, Buddy Lazier has set the fastest time at 16.9961seconds (158.88 mph).

Randy Tolsma currently holds the track record at 131.374 mph in a USAC Silver Bullet car.

"It's so much different than any other place else we run that it's challenging," said Buzz Calkins, who tested here earlier this month. "We've made a lot of changes that we haven't done at other tracks. And we've done some things that are unconventional as far as setups are concerned." <pre> Times at Afternoon Break

Up to 14 cars were expected at Richmond today but good weather in Indianapolis kept several teams close to home where private testing continues for the 85th Running of the Indianpolis 500.
