WHAT THEY'RE SAYING ABOUT THE 2006 INDYCAR SERIES SCHEDULE
Earlier today, the Indy Racing League announced the IndyCar Series schedule for 2006. Following are quotes from throughout the IndyCar Series paddock about the schedule.
Robbie Buhl, co-owner of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing:
"From a driver's standpoint, when we had three races in a row I loved it. For a race driver, if you have a good weekend before then you carry on that momentum. If you have a bad weekend, you want to get back in the car as quick as you can to erase that one. They want to be in the car every day if they could. You have to keep the bigger picture of what the league is trying to accomplish. It's a good thing for our fan base and continuity that they can get in the rhythm of tuning in almost every week."
Dennis Reinbold, co-owner of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing:
"It has momentum from the fans' perspective and continuity for the races so they have almost a routine. The upside of a condensed schedule is all for the fans."
Kevin Savoree, co-owner of Andrettti Green Racing:
"We're really excited about the way the IndyCar Series has looked at the schedule, looked at the timing of the events. We've had a chance to vet this with our sponsor partners and to me it's been a resounding hit commercially. From that perspective, Andretti Green Racing is really excited about what the league is doing, and we look forward to the challenge it will put in front of all of us."
Mike Hull, managing director of Target Chip Ganassi Racing:
"I think the concept is great. Trying to keep ourselves in the public eye week in and week out is a very important steppingstone to creating equity. We hope they're able to take this part of it and carry the ball down the field with us."
Scott Dixon, 2003 IndyCar Series champion:
"The racing week to week is fine. It keeps everybody involved, and people get addicted to watching, seeing what the outcome will be."
