MARLBORO TEAM PENSKE HAS SOLID SHOWING IN CHICAGO

Marlboro Team Penske drivers Helio Castroneves and Sam Hornish Jr. had a successful weekend in Chicago after the pair scored second and third place finishes respectively.

Castroneves has moved back into fifth place in the 2005 Indy Racing League (IRL) IndyCar® Series Championship point standings, just 13 points behind Dario Franchitti, and Hornish Jr. remains in third place, 12 points behind second-place Tony Kanaan with two races left in the 2005 season.

Castroneves' second place finish marked his eighth top-five result this season. In addition, the 30 year-old Brazilian finished just 0.0133 seconds behind Dan Wheldon, which was the eighth closest finish in IndyCar Series history.

Hornish Jr. started fourth on Sunday, marking his 9 top-five start this season. The 26 year-old Defiance, OH native would go on to finish just behind his teammate to secure his seventh top-three finish of the season. In addition, his third place finish marked his fourth top-five finish and fifth top-ten in five appearances at Chicagoland Speedway.

MARLBORO TEAM PENSKE CONTRIBUTES TO HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORT

In order to assist with the relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Marlboro Team Penske has pledged to contribute $50 for each lap its drivers complete during the remainder of the 2005 Indy Racing League (IRL) IndyCar® Series season. Beginning with this past weekend's Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 Presented by Mr. Clean and continuing through the final two races at Watkins Glen International and California Speedway, there are a total of 920 laps to be completed which would equal a possible $46,000 for the Fund. Since both drivers completed all of the laps at this past weekend's race, the donation is already at $20,000.

"We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to race for a living," said Tim Cindric -- President, Penske Racing, Inc "Although we approach every race with the goal of completing every lap, these final events are even more important to us knowing that each lap will help demonstrate our support for those affected by Hurricane Katrina."

INDY RACING LEAGUE COMMUNITY HONORS DELPHI SAFETY TEAM

This past weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, Marlboro Team Penske teamed up with Toyota Motorsports to host the third annual Delphi Safety Team Dinner to recognize the outstanding efforts put forth by the Delphi Safety Team at each event during the IRL season.

The evening featured a brief program with remarks from John Lewis, Senior Director of Operations for the IRL, Jon Potter, President of the CDA (Championship Drivers Association) Brad Stout from Delphi, Les Unger, National Motorsports Manager for Toyota, and Bob Hills of IRL Ministries. The program was highlighted by a video presentation featuring each of the IndyCar Series drivers discussing their sentiments about and appreciation for the Safety Team.

In addition, Dave Sevier won the Championship Drivers Association Safety Award, which was presented by the 2004 winner Dave Brown. For his achievement, Sevier was presented with a commemorative plaque as well as a limited edition Indianapolis 500 Tag-Heuer watch.

PATRICK WINS MARLBORO POLE AWARD IN CHICAGO

Rahal Letterman Racing driver Danica Patrick won the Marlboro Pole Award at the Peak Antifreeze Indy 300 Presented by Mr. Clean by turning a qualifying lap of 215.970 mph (25.3369 seconds). For her achievement, Patrick was presented with a $10,000 check from Philip Morris USA during a post-qualifying ceremony.

There was not a winner of the Marlboro Pole Award Media Contest in Chicago as no journalist selected Patrick to win the pole.
