Scheckter Wins Second Straight Pole in Texas

Tomas Scheckter -- No. 10 Target

Qualified -- 1st

Speed -- 219.300 mph

"It feels great to be on the pole here in Texas. The car has been great straight off of the truck. Team Target gave me a fast car and the Toyota engines have great power. Obviously, I really like this track. I just seem to get around here pretty quick. I have to thank Scott (Dixon) first of all. He came down here and tested over the winter and found a good setup for us. Having two Target cars on the front row is as good as it gets. We couldn't have asked for anything else. We have a good setup for the race as well, so I like our chances in the race."

Scott Dixon -- No. 9 Target Toyota

Qualified -- 2nd

Speed -- 218.654 mph

"Right from the start of practice, I knew that we had a good car. The car was very fast straight off of the truck. Our lap was pretty good, we had a little bit of understeer but it wasn't too bad. Team Target did most of the work for me. All that I had to do was keep the pedal down and be smooth. It's cool to race under the lights. The last time that I raced at night was back in 1997 in Australia on a road course. We've qualified great all year long, now we just need to get some good finishes as well and get some points--or another win would be nice as well."

Notes:

- Tomas Scheckter won his second straight pole at the night race in Texas. He also led 107 of the 200 laps last year before experiencing clutch problems.

- This is the 4th straight race that Scott Dixon has qualified in the top-4.

- Team Target is starting 1-2 for the first time ever in IRL competition. The last time Target cars started 1-2 was in St. Louis in 2000.

- Casey Mears also won the pole today for Team Target, driving the Target Dodge for Chip Ganassi at the ARCA race in Pocono. Mears set the track record with a speed of 169.802 mph.

- A Team Target has started 4th or better in 15 straight races.

- This is the 2nd pole this season for the team and the 4th pole for Tomas Scheckter in 17 races.

- The team is after their second straight victory at the night race in Texas. Last year, Jeff Ward edged Al Unser, Jr. by .011 seconds in what was, at the time, the closest finish in IRL history.
