The track may be different, but the results are the same ... Chevrolet is fast.

Although the style of track is different, the results were still the same as first practice wrapped up for the Verizon IndyCar Series at NOLA Motorsports Park for Sunday’s inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana.
Chevrolet had the top seven positions locked up and eight of the top ten as Tony Kanaan set the pace with a fastest lap of 1:18.8753, translating to 125.058 mph around the 2.74 mile road course.
Following Kanaan were Will Power, Scott Dixon, Sebastien Bourdais and Simon Pagenaud rounding out the top five. Josef Newgarden and Sage Karam were sixth and seventh, respectively, while James Hinchcliffe and Gabby Chaves were the two Honda interlopers in the top ten ahead of Juan Pablo Montoya in tenth place.
Chance of rain
This result might not be 100 percent predictable regarding what may happen for the rest of the weekend as there is a chance of rain in the forecast. In the event of a rain session, all bets are off, but expect the cars to go out on track.
During St. Petersburg, however, this was not the case. Spare parts were in high demand, so running the cars during the second practice session two weeks ago did not appeal to the teams as the track was wet from a rain shower and the race ended up being dry.
Here, there are no guarantees of dry weather for race day so any rain track running will be extremely beneficial to the teams.
