HVM'S EJ VISO QUICKEST OF CHAMP CAR TEAMS TO QUALIFY AT KANSAS
Kansas City, Kansas (April 27, 2008) - HVM Racing's EJ Viso qualified 17th out of the 27 entries for the RoadRunner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway today and will make his second speedway start tomorrow for the race #4 of the 2008 IndyCar Series season.
EJ was 13th quickest in the first practice this morning and 15th in the second practice earlier today and has made some significant strides since his first oval just four weeks ago at Homestead-Miami Speedway. He is quickest of the new teams transitioning from Champ Car with his HVM Racing squad, and 3rd rookie in the line-up for tomorrow's race.
With the much cooler temperatures and threatening rain in the forecast, a number of factors are expected to play a role in the race tomorrow. EJ and the entire crew are looking for a strong finish to gain some momentum heading into the long month of May.
EJ Viso: "I think this is an improvement over the last oval at Homestead, however, we do have some more work to do to improve things to run in the top ten. I think it's very good that we're the quickest out of the new teams and the only new team running one car. The whole crew has been working very hard the past few weeks and I'm very happy with them. It will be a long race tomorrow, but a good start and good pit stops will make the difference for us and I'm looking forward to it."
Keith Wiggins, Team Owner: "At least this weekend we didn't get blocked by traffic in qualifying! While we are not at the front of the grid, this is a reasonably content result for only our second oval. It is nice to be quickest of the Champ Car teams. In the group with which we are running (transitioning Champ Car teams), the objective will be to see who can make the most progress in the shortest amount of time. This means we have to continue to work very hard to keep improving and stay ahead of them while still moving up through the field."
