Pocono IndyCar: Power leads strong Penske challenge in final practice
The Team Penske-Chevrolets finished 1-2-5-6 in final practice for Pocono Raceway’s ABC Supply 500 as teams worked on their raceday setups, and at the top of the speed charts sat defending race winner Will Power.

Power’s #12 entry, which will start fifth tomorrow, lapped the tri-oval at 216.294mph to edge teammate and front-row starter Simon Pagenaud by just 0.1mph. Power is using a new Chevy engine, his previous unit having reached its mileage limit during qualifying.
Chip Ganassi Racing-Honda teammates Max Chilton and Tony Kanaan prevented total domination by Penske, as Helio Castroneves and Josef Newgarden took fifth and sixth. Castroneves was driving a rebuilt #3 car following his Turn 1 shunt during qualifying, which will force him to start from the back of the grid.
Marco Andretti was fastest of the Andretti Autosport-Hondas in seventh, ahead of the impressively driven Dale Coyne Racing-Honda of Pocono rookie Esteban Gutierrez and Mikhail Aleshin replacement Sebastian Saavedra in the #7 Schmidt Peterson Motorsports Honda.
Alexander Rossi completed the top 10 ahead of polesitting Andretti teammate Takuma Sato.
Ed Carpenter was 16th fastest after turning his first laps since crashing in morning practice. He was forced to skip qualifying when his repaired car failed to join the tech inspection line in time.
Ryan Hunter-Reay, who shunted heavily in qualifying, remains in hospital.
