Power on pole at Milwaukee Mile

Will Power will start from the front row of tomorrow’s IndyCar event at the Milwaukee Mile.

The Penske Racing driver was able to secure pole with a lap a squeak over 169 miles per hour.

“It’s just a great start to the three-race chase you could say for the championship finish,” Power told IndyCar.com.

“It’s traditionally a track position race. In practice, it was definitely hard to pass so I can see you’re going to be in traffic all day. “

The pole win gives Power a single point, edging his championship lead over Helio Castroneves to 5.

Ryan Hunter-Reay, who has found himself in Victory Lane the past two years at Milwakee ended up ninth overall, while team mate and practice leader James Hinchcliffe will start tomorrows race in 13th.

Tony Kanaan will share the front row with Power, while Juan Pablo Montoya and Ryan Briscoe make up the second row.

“I think we have a pretty good chance,” Kanaan said.

“We've been showing how quick we've been, how good we've been everywhere. We've just really got to get a little bit of luck on our side sometime. Hopefully tomorrow we'll challenge Will and some of the guys. I think we have a good car and a chance to win. “

Josef Newgarden and Charlie Kimball were the final drivers to make the fast six.
