Graham Rahal and Josef Newgarden will have to start from the rear of the GP of Indy grid tomorrow, after failing post-qualifying tech inspection.

Josef Newgarden, Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet
Graham Rahal, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda

The #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing-Honda and the #21 Ed Carpenter Racing-Chevrolet were both found to be in breach of IndyCar’s Rule 14.3.1.1 for minimum weight.

According to the rule, a car must weight 1610lbs on road/street courses inclusive of all lubricants, coolants, camera and dummy camera housings.

The cars of Rahal, who qualified third, and Newgarden, who qualified fifth, have had their times voided from qualifying and will thus start from the rear, in 24th and 25th respectively.
